This training is offered as part of the activities of the Chaire de recherche du Québec sur la situation démolinguistique et les politiques linguistiques.

To understand and become familiar with the main tools and methods used in demolinguistics in order to study and describe the evolution of linguistic dynamics in Quebec. Compare the situation in Quebec with those observed in the rest of Canada. Explore different theoretical and methodological perspectives and viewpoints in order to develop a critical analysis of the vast amount of information and statistics presented by scientific, governmental, and media stakeholders on the subject. Put the results from various surveys—including those conducted by the Office québécois de la langue française and the Institut de la statistique du Québec—into perspective. Complete certain practical exercises.
