olyn%22%2C%22lastName%22%3A%22C%5Cu00f4t%5Cu00e9-Lussier%22%7D%5D%2C%22abstractNote%22%3A%22Neighborhood%20crime-related%20stressors%20and%20the%20built%20environment%20are%20important%20determinants%20of%20mental%20health%2C%20yet%20research%20on%20the%20pathways%20through%20which%20they%20affect%20individuals%20remains%20limited.%20This%20study%20draws%20on%20structural%20equation%20modeling%20and%20high-quality%20measures%20to%20test%20the%20pathways%20linking%20a%20novel%20measure%20of%20neighborhood-level%20hostility%2C%20crime%2C%20and%20built%20environment%20features%20to%20individuals%26%23039%3B%20perceived%20safety%20and%20mental%20health.%20The%20results%20suggest%20that%20neighborhood%20crime%20and%20perceived%20safety%20are%20directly%20associated%20with%20men%26%23039%3Bs%2C%20but%20not%20women%26%23039%3Bs%2C%20mental%20health.%20Additionally%2C%20neighborhood%20hostility%2C%20tree%20canopy%2C%20and%20walkability%20are%20indirectly%20linked%20to%20men%26%23039%3Bs%20mental%20health%20via%20their%20associations%20with%20crime%20and%20perceived%20safety.%20Findings%20show%20that%20neighborhood%20hostility%20and%20walkability%20were%20directly%20associated%20with%20perceived%20safety%20for%20both%20women%20and%20men%2C%20while%20tree%20canopy%20was%20indirectly%20linked%20to%20perceived%20safety%20through%20its%20relationship%20with%20neighborhood%20hostility.%20According%20to%20these%20results%2C%20equity-oriented%20built%20environment%20interventions%20have%20the%20potential%20to%20reduce%20neighborhood-level%20hostility%20and%20crime%2C%20and%20enhance%20population%20mental%20health.%22%2C%22date%22%3A%222026%22%2C%22section%22%3A%22%22%2C%22partNumber%22%3A%22%22%2C%22partTitle%22%3A%22%22%2C%22DOI%22%3A%2210.1002%5C%2Fjcop.70108%22%2C%22citationKey%22%3A%22%22%2C%22url%22%3A%22https%3A%5C%2F%5C%2Fonlinelibrary.wiley.com%5C%2Fdoi%5C%2Fabs%5C%2F10.1002%5C%2Fjcop.70108%22%2C%22PMID%22%3A%22%22%2C%22PMCID%22%3A%22%22%2C%22ISSN%22%3A%221520-6629%22%2C%22language%22%3A%22en%22%2C%22collections%22%3A%5B%223MRI6CI8%22%5D%2C%22dateModified%22%3A%222026-08-20T19%3A22%3A33Z%22%7D%7D%5D%7D
